UPCOMING EVENTS:
UPCOMING WORKSHOP: A LINE IS THERE TO BE BROKEN
Saturday 27 June, 10-4pm, £10
Walk with the photographers around the Olympic site in Stratford-Hackney Wick and hear more about the ‘theoretical implications’ of constructing this site. After lunch we will return to the Viewfinder to discuss images made during the workshop and discover spatial and social links with the photographs in the exhibition.
A nominal cost of £10 is charged for the workshop. Booking is essential: a.tu@gold.ac.uk and limited to 20 places.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP: PORTRAITURE FOR CHILDREN
Sunday 12 July, 1-4pm, £5
Join local photographer Sarah Garrod and Viewfinder curator Louise Forrester for a fun workshop in portraiture, for children aged between eight and twelve. After a crash course in taking portraits (thinking about settings, viewpoints, details and so on), children will have an hour to take photographs of their parent / guardian in the local area – choosing the location and deciding how the parent is photographed. Parents will also be invited to photograph their children. We will reconvene in the gallery for a friendly discussion of the photographs taken. Each child and parent can select three of their photographs to be published on the Viewfinder website.
Please bring a digital camera and its cable. Max ten participants, with accompanying parents / guardians.
All levels welcome.
To book a spot on the children's portraiture workshop, please pay at the gallery or use the link below:

UPCOMING EVENT: Sit-in Exhibition
Sunday, 26 July 2009
'Sit-in' exhibition: 3 – 3.30pm
Discussion and print swap: 3.30 – 4pm
'Sit-in': an interactive photography exhibition, open to everyone
The Viewfinder Photography Gallery invites you to take part in a unique, temporary exhibition: ‘Sit In’. This event allows photographs to be presented in a completely new way – with the photographers interacting with the gallery space, and holding their work up themselves for exhibition visitors.
Bring something (from a blanket to a bench) to sit on while you hold your print (any size, framed or unframed) for gallery visitors to see, alongside the current exhibition. The object you select to sit on will form part of the visual impact of the event, so think carefully about what you bring!
‘Sit-in’ accompanies Annett Reimer’s exhibition ‘Symbiosis’, in which she presents a series of photographs in which she interacts with furnishings: rolling herself up in a rug, arranging her legs around a sofa and wrapping her body around a pedestal.
Following this half hour ‘Sit-in’ exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a print swap and also to discuss your image with the other photographers and Viewfinder curator Louise Forrester.
Documentation of ‘Sit-in’ will be displayed on www.viewfinder.org.uk/events.html
This event is free to take part in, with a suggested donation of £3 for participants. ‘Sit-in’ is open to all ages and levels.
